5 hotspots Kerststad Valkenburg (English below)
In de week voor Kerstmis ging ik met drie vriendinnen naar de gezellige kerststad Valkenburg in Nederland.
1) Winterwonderland
Als eerste wandelden we naar winterwonderland. Het stadje Valkenburg is zo mooi versierd.
Overal kerstbomen, slingers en ballen. Wat een gezellige sfeer.
Verder was hier nog het zandsculpturenfestival in thema Hollywoodstijl.

2) De Wilhelminatoren is de uitzichttoren van het kerststadje Valkenburg.
Het dertig meter hoge monument staat op de Heunsberg en biedt een weids uitzicht over het heuvelland.
We bereikten de toren via de kabellift. De kabellift was zo spannend! Vicky en ik hebben hoogtevrees.
We hielden elkaars hand vast en we zongen liedjes in de lift om de zenuwkriebels tegen te gaan. ;-)
Het dertig meter hoge monument staat op de Heunsberg en biedt een weids uitzicht over het heuvelland.

3) Fluwelengrot
Wat heel origineel is aan de kerstmarkt in Valkenburg, is dat de marktjes doorgaan in de mergelgrotten.
We bezochten de fluwengrot: Lichtjes, kerstversieringen, kerstbomen en prachtige decoraties wisselden af met vele kerstkraampjes.
Naast de kerstdecoraties zie je ook de oude 18e eeuwse wandschilderingen in de mergelgrotten.
Wat heel origineel is aan de kerstmarkt in Valkenburg, is dat de marktjes doorgaan in de mergelgrotten.

4) Mergelrijk
Naast de fluwelengrot is er ook nog het Mergelrijk. (deze naam doet me denken aan de Efteling) Een andere grot boordevol minitatuurkersthuisjes.
Wegens gebrek aan tijd konden we deze grot helaas niet bezoeken. Misschien volgend jaar?

5) Kasteelruïne
Midden in het centrum is er de toegang van de kasteelruïne.
Ronde middeleeuwse torentjes torenen hoog uit boven het stadje met alweer een prachtig uitzicht.

Het was alweer een superfijne dag! We hebben weer zoveel leuke foto's gemaakt!

In the week before Christmas I went with three friends to the cozy Christmas town of Valkenburg in the Netherlands.
1) Winter Wonderland
First we walked to winter wonderland. The town of Valkenburg is so beautifully decorated.
Everywhere you go, you see Christmas trees, garlands and balls. What a cozy atmosphere.
Furthermore, there was the sand sculpture festival in theme Hollywood style.

2) The Wilhelminatoren is the lookout tower of the Christmas town of Valkenburg.
The thirty-meter high monument stands on the Heunsberg and offers a panoramic view over the hill country.
We reached the tower via the cable lift. The cable lift was so exciting! Vicky and I are afraid of heights.
We held hands and we sang songs to stop the nerves. ;-)

3) Velvet cave
What is very original about the Christmas market in Valkenburg, is that the markets continue in the marl caves.
We visited the fluw cave: Lights, Christmas decorations, Christmas trees and beautiful decorations alternated with many Christmas stalls.
In addition to the Christmas decorations, you can also see the old 18th century wall paintings in the marlstone caves.

In addition to the velvet cave, there is also the Mergel Empire. Another cave full of miniature Christmas houses.
unfortunately we could not visit this cave due to lack of time. Maybe next year?

5) Castle ruin
In the middle of the center there is the entrance of the castle ruin.
Round medieval turrets tower high above the town with another beautiful view.

It was a super nice day! We have made so many nice pictures again!
